The Geographical Center of New Zealand

Nelson, in the northwest of the South Island, claims to be the location of the geographical center of New Zealand. The exact spot is on a nice path on a hill overlooking the city, and is marked with this elaborate sculpture and a plaque. I think they would have charged money to see this in the States. One problem: They’ve since proven the center is about 50km to the southwest of this spot; oops.
