Seeing Uluru (Ayer’s Rock) in person was such a spiritual experience; I’ve never felt so in touch with the Earth’s energ… BLAH BLAH BLAH…it’s a big, red rock in the middle of nowhere, and you have about 5,000 other tourists always at your side when viewing it. That said, seeing it at person was great, and the sunset viewing was a blast; it’s essentially just a big happy hour and *everybody* in the sunset corral (they make you go to specific areas for the sunrise and sunset viewings) has a drink in their hand, as this picture kind of shows. The sunrise viewing area is a similar scene except that everybody instead has a coffee in their hand. I wanted to climb the rock (though the Aborigines ask and tell you not to), but couldn’t because the climb was closed due to high winds and temperatures – I think it got to about 43 degrees celsius that day – so had to settle for walking around the whole thing.
