
You’d think that since New Zealanders are called Kiwis, and that it’s the national bird, the Kiwi bird would be easy to see in the wild. Nope – they’re nocturnal, skittish and live in the bush. Even on Stewart Island, where they are somewhat plentiful, and even sometimes come out in the daylight, this is as close as I came to seeing one. It’s a forced thumbs up.
