A sports post in honor of Super Bowl Sunday! Baseball is clearly the top sport here, even just based upon the number of stadiums & fields you see in the cities. This little league one was on the same grounds as the massive castle in Hiroshima:

I even ended up watching the game a bit, as the game had announcers & some really energy.

All bar TVs in Japan are tuned to the Angels games because of Shohei Ohtani:

Not sure what was being honored here, but the sport is clear:

I randomly ate at a yakitori that was shrine to the beloved home town pro team, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp (their hat logo is in English!):

Each type of skewer was named after a Carp player, which was fun for me, as it made me feel like I could really speak Japanese as I spouted out name after name while pointing at the picture order:

Lots of Yankees hats EVERYWHERE, but finally spotted a Nationals hat in this store:

I also some some Wizards Hachimura jerseys at a store, but they were 50% off because he just got traded to the Lakers πŸ˜”

The second most popular sport seems to be golf, as you see tons of golf-only stores, and lots of the driving ranges in cities, towns, and throughout the countryside. This one even had a sweet waterfront spot:

Random: There are lots of vintage & used clothing stores throughout Japan, and this one had a bunch of shelves for American college sports teams:

The only hint I could find anywhere that the Super Bowl was around the corner was a small NFL shop/section in one of the big department stores that displayed who I hope will be this year’s champ:
