Walking the Camino, and Spain in general, is really cheap:
• €0 = walking the Camino
• €3 = getting peregrino credentials that enable you to stay in peregrino Albergues
• €7-15 = bed for the night in an Albergue dorm room
• €30-35 = private room in peregrino Hostal (totally needed after about a week in the dorm rooms)
• €2 = tortilla de patata
• €3 = bocadillo
• €2 = glass of beer or wine (sometimes served with free tapas) in any bar or restaurant
• €1 = beer from Albergue vending machines (magic)
• €13 = three-course peregrino menu/menu del dia (including wine, sometimes a whole bottle for each person) in most restaurants
So it’s easily under €40 per day, €50 if you’re living the good life. One of the best things, however, is that water is abundant, drinkable, & free at the countless peregrino-targeted public fountains that are in every town & park, or just in random spots in the middle of nowhere on the Camino.
