
There’s a big bathing culture in Iceland. Public pools are everywhere, and they’re geothermally-heated complexes with lots of hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, slides, etc. The locals go to them all the time to meetup with friends, exercise the kids, and relax, weather-be-damned.
There are also lots of private ones that are a little bit fancier, and tend to be in beautiful settings, like lakes & lagoons:

So with an outside temp of 28 snowy degrees F & a lake temp of 40 degrees F, why not leave the warmth of the hot pot (which they’re charmingly sometimes called here) and jump in for an extended dunk‽
