
One of my favorite things about Iceland is the weather. The norm is cool/cold, grey, and rainy/snowy, which makes the scenery & sights even more atmospheric (and, fun). So it was great luck that my re-visit to Reynisfjara Beach coincided with a spectacular, day-long, wind & rain storm. It was actually sometimes difficult to walk or stand in the wind:
These folks were stymied by the wind & rain when trying to round the corner of that beautiful basalt mountain face:
This could be the first instance in my life where I really did need a cave for protection
Bonus: I went on the Summer solstice, so it was 21 hours of daylight grey & rain. Actually, it was more than 21 hours — here’s what it looked like outside about 45 minutes after “sunset”:
