Andor

Andor is a fantastic addition to the Star Wars universe, showing worlds & characters breaking bad, and breaking good →

I’m in the process of watching/rewatching all* the Star Wars movies & shows, in timeline order. Andor is most definitely sticking out as something very, very different than the others, and is my clear favorite.

It’s focused on the backstory of one character, but it really does amazing job of diving deep into the origins of both the Rebel & Empire worlds. You see why the characters are motivated the way the are, and how they ended doing what they’re doing, no matter which side they’re on. Plus, it’s very light on spaceship and light-saber battles, focusing much much more on the plots & character development. Those battles used to be great, but with so much new Star Wars content, they’re just not as cool as they used to be, ya know? Boring, really.

*Not the animated ones — I just can’t do it.

Andor and Rouge One are up there as some of my favorites. Part of the reason is because they are so gritty. Not everything is black and white. Part of it is a distinct lack of plot armor for the characters. Makes it more realistic.

Gritty is the perfect word for it, and what I think sets it apart from the others. Rogue One is up next for me!
