Motivation doesn’t come first, Action does →

Earlier this year I was, ironically, struggling to work on Did You Do it Today each day. I couldn’t get motivated. I waited for it to hit each day, but it never seemed to.
I then established a daily schedule and forced myself to stick to it. The schedule includes a multi-hour work block, which compels me into action each day, whether I feel like it or not. I have to sit at my desk, and I don’t have to work, but I can’t do anything else.
And it’s been working. Not usually right away — I normally have to struggle through doing/building a few things first, which then inspires me, and then the motivation eventually kicks in. Once this loop starts, the hours fly by & the work progresses nicely. So, I think I organically figured out what this post is saying: Action is the key: Just Do Something.
