Continuing this series:
“Build – I’m going to build a small, daily habit-tracking web app using no-code tools. The project is mainly to independently build & learn, but the goal is to eventually sell subscriptions. Lots more to come on this one, especially since I’ll be following the ‘building in public’ mindset .“

Grade = A-
Along with the Camino de Santiago, building & launching Did You Do it Today? is the accomplishment I’m most proud of in 2023. I spent 300+ hours learning the software to build it, and then actually building it. The app still needs so much work to make it look & work great, but the core functionality in it is good, and I think it already will really help folks build a Habit, day by day.
How do I know? I used the app to help build the app! I built the tracking capability early on, and established “Work on DYDit for 5+ hours” as my daily Habit. So, I answered the “Did You Do it Today?” message each day in the app I was actually trying to build! Very meta. Here’s what my December looked like in the app:

So, why only a grade of A-? I had hoped to blog & write about my journey building it, in the hopes that this would garner interest prior to launch, so I’d have an eager audience ready to purchase & use it on day one. But I ended up not doing that at all — it was just too much work each day to both build the app & then write about it.
