I’ve recently started carrying a small notebook & pen with me everywhere I go, even the gym. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and have always tried to jot down on-the-fly notes from them (eg. a recommended book) on my phone. But there’s something unsatisfying about pecking it out on the phone as compared to writing it out by hand. I also find that my digital notes just get “lost” — I never seem to re-open the notes on my phone to see what I wrote.
Now that I’m building things, I have thoughts ALL the time about ideas, improvements, & changes and it feels like it’s critical for me to not forget them. Hence the little notebook, which I’m loving, and is working.
It’s very clearly not a beautiful endeavor, as the notes I jotted whilst on the treadmill today show, but it contains ideas about DYDit UI/UX, DYDit messaging, and then some content recommendations from the podcast I was listening to:

But since the notebook is with me all the time, I’m always seeing what I previously wrote, thus making it more actionable. It’s hugely productive lifehack for me, and I think it’s even spurred me to do more background thinking when just living my life.
