If I’m being honest, I never planned on truly looking for a job in 2023. I really just wanted to focus first on traveling, and then on building DYDit & Snack Pantry, hoping that they’d eventually start to generate some income for me.
While I was never actively looking, I was open to any interesting, job-like opportunities that should happen to fall into my lap. One actually did: doing some process consulting work for some former colleagues. And while I loved working with them again, and being part of a team trying to solve problems, I didn’t love being an outsider who just gives advice & recommendations. I realized that what I like is identifying problems, coming up with potential solutions, and then doing the hard work to implement a solution. Learning that last part was key, and will help inform my 2024 goals.
So, I never really looked for a job, and definitely didn’t earn any money, but I’m giving myself a passing grade because I really was open to possibilities, and I learned something big & helpful.
