Bob W.

A great, low-cost new “hotel” chain in Europe →

I stayed in a Bob W. for a couple of nights when I was in Oslo, and can vouch that they’re great AND inexpensive. As the article details, it’s sort of a mix between a hotel & an Airbnb. You find & reserve a room just like a hotel (eg. via Expedia, Booking, direct), but then all check-in, keys, & comms are done via the web. It’s like an apartment building, and there’s no real lobby, just an entranceway & hallways. So, unless you have issues, you never need to interact with a human, just like an Airbnb.

The room I stayed in was great, and felt like a cool hotel room, but with nuggets of personality throughout, eg. corkboards, stickers, signage.

They’re super centrally located in the top areas, and, when I booked, it by far the cheapest option there. I hope they use this funding to come to the States.
