The US industrial output during WW2 was incredible, and doubled in just four years →

So many interesting facts in this one:
- “In 1939, the United States Army ranked thirty-ninth in the world, possessing a cavalry force of fifty thousand and using horses to pull the artillery.”
- “In 1941, more than three million cars were manufactured in the United States. Only 139 more were made during the entire war.”
There was a cost to all this, of course, and going to a relative’s funeral earlier this week at Arlington Nation Cemetery was a good reminder of this. It’s Memorial Day weekend here in the US, and my appreciation is renewed.
