DC is a tourist town, so it’s no surprise that there’s such a dramatic difference between the stomping grounds of both groups. That said, we locals live directly next to the tourist areas, and if you click in, you’ll see there’s tons of overlap between the two
That’s because we often go where the tourists go, as those spots are right next to, and often a part of, our neighborhoods. They’re also enjoyable to go to (eg. The Mall).
It’s for this reason I still think about, every day, starting up Drink-Eat-Walk. I really want to show tourists that DC isn’t just monuments, museums, and politics — it’s an amazing city full of great neighborhoods, good food, and normal people.
