When most people visit Washington, they learn about the history of the US, the politicians that led the way, and the structures that have been built to honor them.
What they don’t learn about is the people that built the city, nor do they see the amazing neighborhoods we locals live our lives in. They never visit DC. The purpose of Drink•Eat•Walk is to show that side of DC to all the visitors & tourists we’re lucky enough to host here, and local folk who want to get to know their town better.
To properly show that, I need to know my shit. Luckily, one of the perks, for me, of building this business is getting to read history books that will help me construct the stories I want to tell. So it’s thrilling to me when I find a book like this one at the library, or this one in the Amazon’s used book marketplace:

DC wasn’t built by politicians & Presidents. It was built by people who wanted better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. I’m honored to read about them and, one day soon, tell their stories.
