Bruggeing Tourism

Bruges, Belgium is a gorgeous, and it’s a miracle of history that it has survived this long in its condition. I can’t believe it’s still also a real, working, thriving city. It’s one of those places you have to go see, and I’m glad I did.

That said, when you’ve heard about over tourism, this is is the kind of place they’re talking about. Look, I know I’m part of the problem, especially since I Europed via cruise ship. The masses of people there are just so overwhelming at times, though. Sure, you can wander down main streets looking at buildings from the 1300’s, but each narrow street is going to come with 1300 fellow gawkers:

No fear of trolls when all bridgegoers are armed with cameras & earbuds:

I had to get away, and was soon rewarded with that marvel of 2000’s European architecture, the in-public urinal, and this might be my favorite one ever — a three-top!

Bruges really does start to feel like an IRL fairyland if you can ecape:

The cafes would be amazing in the evening:

Had some Belgian Fries whilst there. They were great, but taste supspiciously like French Fries:
