2023 Evaluation: Item #4 → Recommend

Continuing this series.

Grade = C-

I somewhat evaluated this one this post, but I admit I don’t 100% know what I’m doing with this SnackPantry.com. I finally figured out a good cadence: one post a day each weekday here, and then send those all bundled up together over there on Sunday.

I still think it doesn’t work, though, on both sites. The recommendations on this blog feel out of place, and I think I need to convert the weekly posts over there to be a real newsletter. I also still don’t have the right voice & writing in that weekly. I subscribe to lots of recommendation newsletters, and they all become way too verbose over time, spending too much time intro’ing or evaluating the recommendation.

That’s why I’ve cut down my recommendation intros to the bone, with nothing personal in them. I think I’ve cut too much, though, and they just aren’t interesting enough.

Finally, I’ve done NOTHING to get the word out & market SnackPantry.com. If nobody is reading your recommendations, what’s the point? So, lots of work to do on this in 2024, but I’ve at least got the cadence discipline down.
