I’ve written how I like days where Drink•Eat•Walk working means researching & reading. The best working days, though, are the ones where I get out there to get at it. Yesterday was one of those days: I walked the route for my “Rock Creek Park + Mount Pleasant” tour.
This is the tour I’m hoping becomes my most popular, as I just love the combo of forest bathing, surprisingly intense hiking, and the joyously earned happy hour food + drinks at the end.
Had to start it by testing out the apple pie empanada I’m thinking of welcoming customers with (verdict = might need to continue testing):

The pie apparently inspired me to take lots of pics of boxes on posts:

A new skill I’m learning is how to cross creeks whilst recording:
Speaking of trickling water, I’m honestly so thrilled that I’ll have this bathroom available for customers to use, both on the way in, and the way out:

The Western Ridge Trail was built to preserve & showcase the park in its original, natural state. That state shows there truly is some real hiking to be had in the park:

One of the annoyances of the park is that there are active roads throughout. I call this bridge “the bridge to nowhere”, as it just comes out of the trees, seemingly disconnected from any purpose:

I need to start recording & posting lots of videos of me yacking away (there’s now one on the Home page), so I took the chance to practice some. And holy easter do I need to practice. Just picture about 100 takes like this:
The park was Teddy’s favorite, and this trail takes you where he used to skinny dip (the only slim thing about him?):

Was lucky enough to see this fella doing what he’s named for (thanks for helping me figure out his species, ChatGPT):
Meridien Hill Park, my local neighborhood park, is technically a part of Rock Creek Park, and it had truly arisen from the winter yesterday, and was bumpin’:

I’ve been contemplating whether to bring my groups through the park, and this convinced me I have to. Nothing feels more DC local than this special place, especially on a Sunday, when the drum circle is truly bumping.
12 miles, 25,000 steps, and a big ✅ for Sunday productivity.
